Natrialba aegyptica was discovered on the coast of salt lake in Egypt. Poly-gamma-L-glutamic acid is produced by the archaebacteria protecting themselves from the salted and dried environment. The moisturizing performance of AminoPGALE is less affected by salt than that of DL-form polymer: poly-gamma-DL-glutamic acid.
A natural polymer consisting of L-glutamic acid as a monomer. It is a hydrophilic humectant, which is produced by fermentation of halophilic archaebacteria: Natrialba aegyptiaca.
AminoPGALE is a natural polymer, which repeat unit is L-glutamic acid. Carboxyl group on gamma position of L-glutamic acid is bound to amino group.
Features of AminoPGALE
Excellent moisturizing function
The moisturizing action of AminoPGALE was evaluated with 3D skin model, "TESTSKIN". When the model skins were treated with water and exposed with dried condition (37℃, 15%RH), cell death was observed due to water loss. On the other hand, when the model skins were treated with AminoPGALE contained lotion before exposure of dried condition, cell survivals were observed with more than 0.5% concentrations. The performance of AminoPGALE was approximately twice as that of Poly (gamma-DLglutamic) acid produced by Bacillus.
